Botswanna, Africa
Unisex Toilet in Botswana
Unisex toilet and shower facilities 9/5/2007;
Safari Lodge on the Chobe River in Botswanna.
Left and right sides were mirror images of each other.
Stalls could be a shower or a toilet, you have to open
them to see which is which. Toilets are standard flush models.

Ngepi Lodge on the Okavango River in Namibia
The following photos were taken 9/7/07 at Ngepi Lodge on the Okavango River in Namibia.
There were special His & Hers toilets near the bar/clubhouse.
Naturally, the "hers" toilet was much nicer.
The patron puts up a bar across the door to indicate that the outhouse is occupied.

Ahh, so who needs a shower curtain, anyway?

Taken 9/15/07 at the Sossusvlei dunes area in the Namib desert (Namibia).
A true outhouse, the seat inside was straddling a hole in the ground.
I discovered why the women in our tour didn't want to use it:
There were a dozen or so bees flying in and out of that s--- hole.
Fortunately, my business that day could be conducted at a distance.

on the island of Paros
Taken on 10/1/2006 on the island of Paros. This is the type of toilet Americans love to hate. I have seen these in Greece, Italy and other European countries.

I work with a fellow who loves to travel to far away places with his wife. Two years ago they went to Australia. Last year they went to Greece. This year they traveled to Africa and went on a safari in Isabel (the diesel safari vehicle). This trip was all well and good until they found out that they would be sleeping in tents on a thin pad over the ground. The tents were about 8 x 10 foot umbrella tents. Not only that but the main thing was that each tent was literally 6 inches from the next tent! You couldn't fart without everyone knowing it. In addition, there were several people on the tour who snored. You can imagine hearing wild animals all night and then other people snoring. Wonderful!
The text describing the location is below each picture.

What else can you see in the images shown? Many times a photo is worth a thousand words and I've only elaborated with a few so why don't you add some "color commentary" to my collection. If your addition is worthy, you will find the quote added on the Comments to the Curator page.
