Winning the coveted Crescent Moon Award from Penn's Store in Gravel Switch, Kentucky finally put the Outhouses of America Tour over the top. We have finally gotten a lot of well deserved recognition for our efforts in preserving the history of Outhouses. The award is shown above. We have been told that we have the ONLY gold moon trophy. Penn's Store told us that they took the moon over the the trophy shop and they decided to paint it gold. We don't mind. Shortly after they issued a Press Release, we were contacted by numerous newspapers and radio stations for interviews. We are still waiting for Ellen, Oprah, David Letterman or Jay Leno to call. Helllllloooohhh! The Detroit Free Press article was written by Joel Thurtell. He did a fantastic job and the photographer took hundreds of shots. We made the front page of section B on the day it ran. From there, several newspapers across the country have picked up the article and pictures off the AP wire.

After the Free Press article ran, we were on the air with Dominski and Doyle on 97.1 FM in Detroit and then we were interviewed by Warren Pierce on WJR radio. National Public Radio came over and we had a long interview with Celeste Headlee. That interview will run some time after the elections. Other radio stations have contacted us for interviews as well. We don't mind...it's fun!

When the newspaper reporters and radio station interviewers come over, we set up a large table with many of the miniature outhouses that have been given to us over time. You can see a portion of our collection above. I shake my head every time I take the outhouses out and put them all in one place. We hope you enjoy our Outhouses of America Tour and we are glad it finally received an award for it. We hope to preserve the history of outhouses for years to come.
What else can you see in the images shown? Many times a photo is worth a thousand words and I've only elaborated with a few so why don't you add some "color commentary" to my collection. If your addition is worthy, you will find the quote added on the Comments to the Curator page.
