Here's the latest update as of October 2001. They finally finished it. It turned out so pretty, It doesn't even stink. They think it may be the prettiest outhouse in "All The Land". If anyone wants to comment, you can send Email to the builder. The next few paragraphs describe the Fremont County Colorado Homemade Outhouse that were sent to me last year before they had all the detail work done.
As of the day this page was published, it's not quite complete. They have a "Cresent Moon" shaped mirrror ordered for the inside of the door so that you can see out the back window while your dropping your "Growler". They still need to install some green metal trim pieces around the roof and his wife, Laurie is making curtains for the window.
They have a 9 lb. sash weight hanging on a rope running thru eyelets (they're looking for some brass pulleys) that works as the door closer.
They didn't have any plans, just a mental picture, (that got them into trouble more than once since (in his own words) he has a child's portion of brain cells). I doubt that taking a look at the finished product. It looks great!
He'll send more pictures when they get it completed. It probably won't be until the spring time as they are running out of nice weather. They've probably spent about 4 weekends so far building it. They did most it without electricity and a chain saw. A cordless drill has been very handy. They did have use of a generator a couple of weekends and did some pre-building at home as well.
