My husband just built me an outhouse after 20 yrs of asking for one. He told me that I had to dig the hole. Well this spring I got a bee in my bonnet and dug the perfect hole, 2x3x4deep with perfectly straight sides. He was as good as his word. He used regular 2x4's for framing, T-111 for the outside, white paneling inside, and cedar shakes on the roof. It even has electric lights. I decorated the inside with an outhouse border around the top and under the window. We live so far out in the woods that the window and glass door won't concern anyone who may have to use it. Most all the ladies I tell about it wonder why I'd want an outhouse while most of the men think it's a good idea, as I do. The first time it got it's trial run, friends had come from NJ for an overnite visit just as a terrible storm had passed. We were without power for the rest of that day and most of the night. Everyone was glad we had one.
