3000 People Can't Be Wrong! Here they are watching the Outhouse Races! Photo from Patty the Painter
"Built like a brick shithouse" was 15 feet tall. They had to take down the starting line banner to get on the track but it collapsed before reaching the finish. this was the "1st Ever" race.

This "Grass Hut" Outhouse also had problems on the track. Patty believes this was the "2nd Ever". |

This is another view of the "Grass Hut" outhouse. Oh, Oh! Looks like it really had problems. It tipped over! | Grass Hut Outhouse Photo from Patty the Painter |
This was one of those unique entries. Rumor has it that many a high stakes poker game was played in the outhouse. Beer was brought in and the players never had to leave to go to the bathroom. Naturally, a royal flush took it all. |

Even the bankers get into the annual Outhouse Races! After all, who wants to be a swine? |

You don't have to be a King to use this Outhouse. And look - the door doubles as the bridge across the moat! |

"T's Looney Tunes" Outhouse usually wins the "Most Colorful" design award. I can see why. | A Looney Tune's Outhouse Photo from Patty the Painter |
This is the back view of the Looney Tune's Outhouse. Note the handle so the pushers can push the Outhouse down Main Street. |

This entry is from Baskin-Robbins. It is the Ice Cream Outhouse. This specially built Outhouse traveled 450 miles from Trenton, Michigan. They bring a new design every year. |

Ok. Here's the inside of the Outhouse from Baskin-Robbins! Take careful note of the items inside, especially the toilet paper. | Inside the Baskin-Robbins Outhouse Photo from Patty the Painter |
"Trenary Wood Products" was disqualified for "use of mules". It was built with real shingles and shakes, so it was very heavy. |

Here is a clear shot showing the use of mules. The rules must state that the Outhouse must be pushed by people in the race. | A mule pulling the Outhouse Photo from Patty the Painter |
This outhouse was well constructed. It was made to have that well weathered look. |

This "Wausau Homes" Outhouse was made with real vinyl siding. | A Wausau Homes Outhouse Photo from Patty the Painter |
This Outhouse from Kurt's Place travels from Cambridge, Wisconsin every year. Come on, there's got to be a beer in here somewhere! |

This is an authentic "stump" Outhouse. It was to be used as a deer blind after the race. I wonder if any deer ventured close? | Authentic Stump Outhouse Photo from Patty the Painter |
The "Wild West Wee Wee" had "Western" pushers. People dress the part to push often. |

Look! Here's one of the original "Pushers". The Trenary Tavern definitely gets my vote here. Note the person standing on the ladder. It looks like the official starting line and race starter. | Wild West Wee Wee Photo from Patty the Painter |
The Munising Flower Shop had a very unique entry as shown here. I wonder if it smelled good? Don't forget; Many outhouses have flowers growing nearby. |

"X-Mas to Toivo" was dedicated to the Outhouse Committee chairman - Toivo Aho. | An Outhouse Wrapped Like a Gift Photo from Patty the Painter |
Women; Use your imagination here. Now I didn't know that women had posters in their outhouses. |

It looks innocent enough, doesn't it? | The Women's Outhouse; Door Closed Photo from Patty the Painter |
In my opinion, this is quite a unique outhouse. Even more unique is the inside as seen in the next picture. |

As you can see here, the Troll Hole is a welcome place to fish from. You don't need to take a break from your fishing! | Inside The Troll Hole Photo from Patty the Painter |
"Hello? Information? Can you give me the number of a...wow, it stinks in this booth! Even Clark Kent needs to go..." |

"Brian Hoy Trucking" fashioned his entry after his real log hauling semi. They were top finishers too! |

Where is this event held? Trenary, Michigan the last weekend of February. Isn't it amazing the creativity people have used! Every year there is something new. |
Back to the '6th ever' coming up in 1999. It is always the last Saturday in February. Trenary is by Munising, 28 miles Southwest to be exact. And, we do have one motel, but you're right, it is booked up for that weekend over a year in advance. The great thing about Trenary is this; you can drive only about 30 miles and be in Marquette or Escanaba. There are a lot of places to stay in those towns. |
What else can you see in the images shown? Many times a photo is worth a thousand words and I've only elaborated with a few so here is your chance to add some "color commentary" to my collection.
